Design One LLC, established in 2001, is an interior design firm specializing in corporate office space and residential additions / renovations. New addition & renovation project in Fairfield

Welcome to all who may be checking in to read my blog. This is my first on my new website and it's great to finally have it up and running! I've decided that it might be interesting to follow a home renovation project through the process. This project is in Fairfield. The design work and construction document drawings are complete. The contract has been awarded to J&M Construction and we are currently waiting for the building permit to be issued. This project has no zoning issues, no wetlands, and it is not in a flood plain. Rare but beautiful! As you can see in the before photo, it is a good looking colonial style house to begin with so the challenge here is to add on without distracting from the aesthetic of the existing structure. The addition is primarily a single story family room and a third garage bay with many interior alterations as well. The interior of the house was recently flooded as well caused by a broken pipe while the family was on vacation. Therefore, there is significant repair work that will take place as well. Excavation is coming up in my next post.
